EXPLORE THE LUSH GREEN LANDSCAPES OF NORTHERN LA PALMA
North of the island by bus! Besides being beautiful, La Palma is also known as the Green Island for its lush natural heritage. With our excursion through the northeast, you’ll discover the beauty of its landscapes, with vegetation that changes due to the multiple microclimates, impressive ravines, and picturesque hamlets steeped in tradition.
In the beautiful municipality of Puntallana, with its rich agricultural tradition, we’ll visit the charming Mirador de La Montaña viewpoint to revel in an unparalleled panorama of verdant mountains, a rugged coastline dotted with cliffs, and a unique sculpture commemorating the local legend of the Lover’s Leap. After enjoying the views from the mountaintop, we’ll stop at the next viewpoint in the same area, the Barranco de La Galga viewpoint.
The visit to Los Tilos and the Interpretation Centre is not possible due to the landslide that occurred in December 2023. As an alternative, we will visit the first part of El Cubo de La Galga, in order to discover the Canarian laurel forest, a type of humid subtropical forest typical of our archipelago.
Our route goes “from the mountains to the sea,” passing through the picturesque village of San Andrés. Framed by banana plantations and its historic church square, it is one of the most beautiful places on the island. A simple walk to Puerto Espíndola allows us to enjoy the coast, see the natural pools of Charco Azul, and visit the Ron Aldea distillery, where rum is made from sugarcane using traditional methods and with great care.
In Barlovento, we’ll visit the Mirador de la Tosca viewpoint, at an altitude of approximately 630 meters, from where you can see one of the best collections of dragon trees on the island. The recreational area of the Fajana natural pools is also worth a visit. There, we’ll find the literary viewpoint dedicated to San Mao, China’s most important writer.
