EXPLORE ONE OF THE WORLD’S LEADING ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORIES IN LA PALMA
The excursion to Roque de los Muchachos, the highest point on the island of La Palma at 2,426 meters, begins on Tuesdays with transfer from the designated pick-up points to the Roque de los Muchachos Visitor Center (including a visit to the center after the observatory visit). From there, participants will begin a guided caravan tour to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), one of the most important astronomical complexes in the world due to the exceptional quality of its skies. For approximately two hours, some of the scientific facilities will be visited, where experts will explain the operation of the telescopes and the importance of the research conducted there.
If you choose the Friday option, it will only include the visit to the observatory, but it does not include the transfer or the visit to the Roque de Los Muchachos visitor center.
The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory houses state-of-the-art telescopes operated by various international institutions, including the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), the world’s largest optical-infrared telescope. Thanks to its privileged location and strict protection against light pollution, this site is key to the study of the universe. After the guided tour, the return to the starting point will begin, completing a unique experience that combines science, nature, and spectacular views of the volcanic landscape and the Atlantic Ocean
